How should your food live? Does it matter?

We recently applied for and subsequently fell out of the welfare approved process. If you didn't know there is a certifying agency that will approve your to use the label "animal welfare approved". I thought naively 'we live and care for animals openly and above reproach' thus may be up our ally. Well after a volume of paperwork we withdrew our application because our processor was not interested and we can't be certified without a processing facility inspection. By the way I think the processor also does a gently and humane job as I have seen this process myself. So no certification for us but rest assured, your farmers care for the well being of our animals above all else on the farm. Do y'all have any doubt about the Barry farms animals and their welfare? If so please come join us for a days work in the farm. We'd love to have you.
